On 14 October 2025, CPICL Director of Public Law, Associate Professor Rebecca Ananian-Welsh, joined ABC’s The Law Report with Damien Carrick to discuss the High Court’s unanimous decision upholding the use of police evidence obtained via the AN0M encrypted app.

The ruling arises from the 2021 AFP–FBI operation that led to sweeping arrests, including in Australia. While the decision is a major win for investigators, it also reignites debate about the scope and safeguards of Australia’s surveillance laws.
