TC Beirne School of Law, University of Queensland Law Alumni Association, Australians Against Capital Punishment and the Julian Wagner Memorial Fund invite you to a cocktail function with Richard Bourke, Director of the Louisiana Capital Assistance Center.

It is proposed that the event will be recorded for broadcast on ABC Radio’s Big Ideas program.

Richard was a leading talent of the Victorian Bar before joining the Louisiana Capital Assistance Center in 2002. He has worked on numerous trials and appeals opposing the death penalty in the United States. As director of the Louisiana Capital Assistance Center, Richard is a leading advocate for change to a system that inflicts its worst injustices on people who are poor and predominantly from disadvantaged backgrounds.

The profits from the function will be shared equally by Australians Against Capital Punishment and the Julian Wagner Memorial Fund Inc. The Julian Wagner Memorial Fund uses the majority of its funds to grant bursaries to Australians who work overseas as volunteer interns on death penalty cases.  AACP supports a number of anti-death penalty campaigns mainly in Indonesia and South East Asia.
