Professor Warren Swain is a fractional appointment at the TC Beirne School of Law. He is a Professor of Law at the University of Auckland, Faculty of Law, where he is Associate Dean (Academic). Warren previously taught at Hertford College, Oxford University, the University of Birmingham, and Durham University in the UK. Professor Swain's research is concerned with the history of private law and intellectual history in so far as it relates to law. He is also interested in legal biography. He recently published, W Swain, The Law of Contract 1670-1870 (Cambridge University Press, Cambridge 2015). In addition to books he has published more than fifty articles or book chapters on subjects as diverse as legal history, legal biography, contract law, tort law, comparative law, family law and unjust enrichment.
