Researcher biography

Sarah is an Associate Professor in Law and Marketing at the University of Queensland and a speaker, consultant and writer in sport. Sarah has won awards for her undergraduate and postgraduate teaching and is a visiting Fellow at Loughborough University. She has multidisciplinary expertise in marketing, psychology and law and previously practised as a commercial lawyer. She is globally known for her research and consulting in sports marketing, sports law and branding. Sarah is also an educational specialist, having won awards for her tertiary teaching, and having led the UQ MBA program to a ranking of number 1 in Australasia and number 10 globally (The Economist). She is widely published in the sports field, with recent projects including sports scandal impacts, sports corruption, mega sporting event legacy impacts, sponsorship metrics, women in sport and esports. Sarah holds several non-executive directorships, including as Deputy Chair of the Brisbane Lions AFL Football Club, Chair of She Flies, director of Tourism and Events Qld, The Gregory Terrace Foundation and the Wandering Warriors. She is a member of the Minister's Sport Advisory Council. She is currently leading a global sports innovation accelerator at UQ in partnership with the Qld government and has been a judge and mentor for these accelerators, including pitching finals during the NBA All Stars event in LA and the Commonwealth Games. She has extensive international experience in teaching and engagement and is a finalist for two categories of the India Australia Business and Community Awards, including the Female Business Leader Award and The Spirit of Sport Award for 2018.
