An ongoing sea-level rise poses a considerable threat to Australian lives, property and infrastructure, particularly as almost all the country’s main cities and 85% of its population are located near the coast.
Dr Justine Bell’s research explores the legal issues that will arise from sea-level rise caused by climate change, including planning, property, liability and insurance law. The key aim of the research is to provide guidance that will assist law and policy-makers, and relevant industries such as insurers, to make decisions and create laws that are appropriate to deal with future situations.
