Prof Heather Douglas & Priscilla Mackay

We congratulate Priscilla Mackay as the UQ Law School winner of the 2015 Una Prentice award. Priscilla achieved the highest GPA (6.643) among the women graduating in her year of study at the UQ TC Beirne School of Law.

The Women Lawyers Association Queensland Una Prentice Award is supported by the College of Law and recognises the achievements of women at universities across Queensland. The award is named after Una Prentice who was the first woman to graduate from the Faculty of Law at the University of Queensland in 1938. The Una Prentice Award is funded by the generous bequest of Ms Prentice, and each year WLAQ honours and celebrates her memory by recognising the achievements of the highest graduating female law student at each of the Law Schools across Queensland. The award is supported by the College of Law as an ongoing sponsor.

Sharon Doyle, Owner and Managing Director of Interfinancial spoke at the ceremony held on 21 April 2015. She presented an inspirational speech and pointed out the value of a law degree for any career because it teaches ‘structured thinking.’ She recommended the awardees should chase what is fun and interests them and they would never stop learning!

Congratulations to Priscilla, this is a wonderful achievement.
