17 year olds in the criminal justice system

31 Oct 2016

In October, law students Jane Hall and Jessica Downing-Ide researched and drafted a submission to the Education, Tourism, Innovation and Small Business Committee in support of the proposed youth justice Bill which would allow 17 year olds to be treated as children in the criminal justice systems. Professor Heather Douglas supervised the research and law school staff were invited to endorse the submission, the result being a collaborative piece of work between senior law students and UQ law academics. The submission (number 7) is available here.
