April Coffee Conversations

Michael Kirby is a former Justice of the High Court of Australia, a committed human rights advocate, was the inaugural Chairman of the Australian Law Reform Commission, and was once a student politician. He is one of Australia’s most admired public figures, has won countless prestigious awards, and still works tirelessly trying to make the world a better place.

But in reflecting on his youth, and sharing his wisdom with young people, Justice Kirby  has said, "if I have a resentment, it is that I didn't have much fun when I was young - try to have a lot of fun, because you're only young once."  He is a favourite among law students, for the wit and humour that he often brought to otherwise very formal court proceedings, for his dignity, and his recognition of the importance of love: for liberty, for our communities and for each other.

UQ Law is honoured to have Michael Kirby as our conversation guest in April – register now for what will be a very special cup of coffee.

Places at the April Coffee Conversation are strictly limited to students in their 3rd year of law or above.  Please do not register for the event unless you are definitely going to attend, otherwise you are taking up someone else’s spot.
