About the speaker

Sheetal Deo started her journey in law in high school when she started narrowing her career path and working towards becoming an in-house lawyer for a biotech firm. Fast forward 10+ years, Sheetal has started (and withdrawn) from a Bachelor of Science Honours program in biotechnology, completed a Bachelor of Arts degree in philosophy and political science, worked in marketing and recruitment for one of British Columbia (Canada’s) fasting growing universities and moved across the world to undertake legal studies at Bond (including the JD, LL.M and Graduate Diploma of Legal Practice). Sheetal has also worked in private practice, and while working for QLS completed the QLS Practice Management Course so she could open up her own practice, as well as co-founding a not-for-profit association aimed at supporting culturally and linguistically diverse members of the rainbow community.

It hasn’t been a straightforward journey, but the constant driving force amidst the winding, sometimes blocked, pathways has been Sheetal’s passion for law and the legal profession. Sheetal has struggled to find her right fit between engaging with the legal profession, advocacy and substantive law but with QLS, her own practice and non-for-profit initiatives, she’s finally found it.
