Dousing Threats in the Context of Domestic and Family Violence
11 February 2022 12:00pm–1:00pm
This seminar will overview some of the preliminary insights arising from our research, with an opportunity to discuss ramifications and next steps for our research.
Throughout 2021, we conducted interviews with domestic and family violence service providers to gain insight into dousing threats in the context of DFV and the efficacy of current law and legal responses to the crime-type.
Members of the research team will each speak to a specific topic of interest, including:
- general findings on the form and context of dousing threats
- the relationship between threats and coercive control
- the role of media reporting in amplifying threats
- the nature of the criminal justice response to threats
