This seminar will address the issue of AI regulation, aiming to understand the rules currently being defined by the United Nations Commission On International Trade Law (UNCITRAL) and the European Union. The UNCITRAL Working Group on Electronic Commerce is now working on the use of automated systems to negotiate, form and perform contracts, conceptualizing artificial intelligence as one type of automated system. In the meantime, in the EU, the European Parliament and Council have reached a provisional agreement on the text of the Regulation that lays down harmonised rules on artificial intelligence, the Artificial Intelligence Act.
