26th Annual WA Lee Equity Lecture 2025
Queensland Gives is delighted to present the 26th Annual WA Lee Equity Lecture in partnership with the TC Beirne School of Law at The University of Queensland.
The Honourable Chief Justice Helen Bowskill and The Honourable Margaret McMurdo AC, Chair of Queensland Community Foundation Board of Governors, look forward to welcoming you to this year's WA Lee Equity Lecture presented by the Honourable Justice David Boddice of the Supreme Court of QLD who will present "Intestacy: Is it a form of estate planning?" followed by networking drinks courtesy of de Groots Will and Estate Lawyers, Estate First Lawyers and Mitchell's Solicitors.
The WA Lee Equity Lecture is held each year in honour of foremost equity and trusts academic and author, Honorary Professor WA "Tony" Lee. This prestigious series of lectures continues a long tradition of maintaining contemporary debate on matters of equitable jurisdiction, technique, principle and doctrine both in Australia and beyond. CPD points may be available for this lecture.
The lecture will be held in the Banco Court, Supreme Court of Queensland, George Street commencing at 5.30pm sharp. We recommend that you arrive from 5.00pm to clear security. ID is required.

Justice Boddice graduated from the University of Queensland in 1983 with a Bachelor of Laws (Honours) and was admitted as a barrister of the Supreme Court of Queensland in 1984. He was appointed Senior Counsel in 2001.
His Honour has served in a number of significant roles, including member of the Queensland Anti-Discrimination Tribunal (2006–2009), chair of the Queensland Nursing Tribunal (2007–2009), and director (1993–2010) and chairperson (2006–2010) of Barristers' Chambers Limited. He was also junior vice president (2006–2008) and senior vice president (2008–2010) of the Medico-Legal Society of Queensland, and a member of the Continuing Professional Development Committee of the Bar Association of Queensland (2007–2009). Justice Boddice has been the legal patron of the Medico-Legal Society of Queensland since 2014 and was appointed chair of the Supreme Court Library Committee in 2025.
Justice Boddice was appointed a Judge of the Supreme Court of Queensland on 2 July 2010. He served as an additional Judge of the Mental Health Court from 2011 to 2014 and as President of that Court from 2014 to 2017. He was appointed the Southern Region Judge of the Land Appeal Court in 2020.
In 2023, Justice Boddice was appointed a Judge of the Queensland Court of Appeal.
