Highly recommended for all international students studying at UQ.

Queensland’s beautiful beaches are famous across the world, but it’s important to recognise the surf can be a dangerous place at times. In fact, in the past ten years there have been 78 drownings on Queensland beaches and, of these, 38 were international tourists or migrants. Surf Life Saving Queensland’s On The Same Wave program seeks to save lives through education, engaging with people from culturally and linguistically diverse backgrounds and providing them with vital surf safety information in their primary language.  As part of the initiative, this year SLSQ will be providing UQ’s international students with access to free information sessions and translated resources to equip them with the information and awareness to protect themselves and others in the surf, and ensure their next trip to the beach is memorable for all the right reasons.
