The TC Beirne School of Law invites you to join us for a presentation by Professor Ian Freckelton QC to explore integrity in the scholarly environment. The presentation will provide an overview of the culture of contemporary scholarship and examine how protocols and standards in the scholarly environment have contributed to a crisis in integrity. The talk will provide insights into how reliability, originality and transparency in research can be reasserted, and how scholarly values and the checks and balances of ethics committees, supervision, and peer reviewing can be harnessed more effectively.

Ian Freckelton QC is a Queen's Counsel, a Professorial Fellow in Law and Psychiatry at the University of Melbourne and an Adjunct Professor of Forensic Medicine at Monash University. His work chronicles and analyses case law from around the globe, looking specifically at legal and regulatory issues. He is the author of Scholarly Misconduct: Law, Regulation, and Practice (OUP, 2016), co-author of Expert Evidence and Criminal Jury Trials (OUP, 2016) and co-editor of Tensions and Traumas in Health Law (Federation, 2017).
