Queensland’s proposed Human Rights Act will require a review of structures, policies and practices by many Queensland Government departments and agencies. The workshop will bring together experts from academia, industry, government, and legal and medical practice to focus on criminal justice system responses to people with mental health problems. They will establish existing knowledge, suggest a future approach, and establish networks to support those responsible for implementing the Human Rights Act (Qld).

The two-day program will include discussion about the Act’s implementation and its impact on mental health and human rights across policing, pre-trial decision-making, the courts, prisons and punishment, and regulatory responses. Insights from Victoria and the Australian Capital Territory will also be shared.

Please note: attendance at this event is by invitation only.
