Royal Raj S obtained his Bachelors in Arts and Bachelors in Law (B.A., B.L.,) from Government Law College, Coimbatore, India. He then pursued his Masters in Law (LL.M) specializing in Intellectual Property Laws, from Tamil Nadu National Law University (TNNLU), India topping the class with a gold medal.

Prior to his doctoral study, he was an Assistant Professor of Law at TNNLU, Tiruchirappalli from July 2019 to December 2022. He also holds a Diploma in Cyber Law, from the Asian School of Cyber Law, Pune. He is a recipient of the “Law Student Excellence Award-2018” conferred at Legal Desire Summits and Awards, 2018. Notably, he received the “(Young) Asian Intellectual Property Scholar Award – 2019” at the 4th Intellectual Property Scholars of Asia Conference at SMU, Singapore.

In addition, he co-authored a paper with his professor, and the same was presented at the First IP Researchers of Asia Conference at Malaysia, in February 2019. As an awardee of the Global South Scholar Travel Grant, he presented the policy brief at the Academic Council on the United Nations System (ACUNS) Annual Meeting, 2022 hosted by the Graduate Institute of International and Development Studies, Geneva, and the United Nations, Switzerland from June 23 to 25, 2022. He is an enrolled Advocate with the Bar Council of Tamil Nadu and Puducherry affiliated with the Bar Council of India.
