Carmichael mine jumps another legal hurdle, but litigants are making headway

University of Queensland environmental law lecturer Dr Justine Bell-James today published an article in The Conversation, discussing the ongoing Carmichael coal mine case – a court challenge to the biggest planned coal mine in Queensland.

In the article, Dr Bell-James covers points of arguments to ecological sustainability in court, the use of legal action to combat climate change, and whether the High Court will consider the "market substitution" defence for climate change arguments in court.
