The fifth annual David F Jackson Mooting Dinner celebrated the many accomplishments and hard work of students who have competed in mooting and legal skills competitions in 2016. The event, held on Monday 21 November at The Women’s College, also acknowledged the tremendous support of the school’s coaches and team sponsors, including the International Aerospace Law and Policy Group and the Chartered Arbitrators Institute of Australia.
The evening, sponsored by North Quarter Lane Chambers, was attended by over 80 guests including many leaders in the legal profession. Professor Sarah Derrington, Dean of Law and Ms Geneviève Murray, director of Mooting, hosted the evening with the after dinner address given by Ms Sue Brown QC, alumna and barrister, who delivered an engaging homage to Mr David F Jackson AM QC.
The celebrations culminated in an awards presentation to recognize outstanding achievements in advocacy:
Best Oralist in a Moot Competition, sponsored by the Bar Association of Queensland
Keilin Anderson, International Maritime Law Arbitration Moot
Best Moot Team, sponsored by the Queensland Law Society
Emma Hartley, Nicholas Lindsay and Shane Montgomery, Leiden Sarin International Air Law Moot Competition
