CPICL Director, Professor Nicholas Aroney, Delivered Seminar at National University of Singapore
On 6 August 2025, CPICL Director Professor Nicholas Aroney delivered a seminar titled “Constituent Power in Multilevel Constitutions – Theory, Comparison and Case Selection” at the Centre for Asian Legal Studies (CALS), National University of Singapore. The event was chaired by Adjunct Professor Kevin Y. L. Tan.
Professor Aroney examined how constituent power, traditionally seen as singular, operates in federal and multilevel systems where authority may derive from multiple constituent peoples. Drawing on global examples, he combined theoretical insights with empirical approaches to case selection and demographic analysis.
The seminar concluded with a lively discussion on the implications of plural constituent power for constitutional theory and practice.
This event formed part of CPICL’s broader commitment to expanding its global presence and fostering international dialogue on fundamental questions of constitutional law.
