Studying at Queensland's premier law school is more accessible than you may think

The LEAD Scholarship supports aspiring UQ Law students who have experienced educational, social and/or financial disadvantage.

In 2025 there are up to 10 scholarships on offer for students who aim to commence, or continue, an undergraduate law program at UQ.

The scholarship includes:

  • $40,000 across your degree to help with living and study expenses.
  • Dedicated academic mentors: Regular check-ins with your two-person mentor team throughout your journey,
  • Community and social support: Events and activities with more than 50 other LEAD scholars, as well as support from the Law life & Wellbeing Coordinator.
  • Non-residential college membership: Optional non-residential memberships at a UQ college in your first-year, providing an additional support network and access to practical benefits, such as tutoring and meals.

“I’ve not heard of anywhere else where you can get that level of support... Being able to go to dedicated academics who have done it all before for advice and support, and who are looking out for you consistently, it’s priceless”

Lucas Steger, UQ Bachelor of Laws (Honours) / Bachelor of Arts

“I’ve been able to not only take career opportunities like the ODPP [a 4-week full-time placement] without added financial stressors, but also life experiences that have made me who I am today… Things as simple as moving out of home and travelling overseas – these are things I never could have done before.”

Michelle O’Grady, UQ Bachelor of Laws (Honours) / Bachelor of Economics
