CPICL Fellow Dr Kim D Weinert Launched A New Book on Charity Law and Governance

On 3 October 2025, CPICL Fellow Dr Kim D Weinert, together with Professor Ross Grantham, launched their edited collection, Charity Law and Governance: Private Benefit, Public Purpose and the Regulatory Strategy, at McCullough Robertson. The event was warmly attended by UQ colleagues, students and friends, reflecting strong interest in contemporary debates on the purposes, public benefit and regulatory settings of the charitable sector. Among the guests was Dr Sarah Wilson, Reader in Law at the University of York, whose thoughtful reflections at the launch exemplified the intellectual richness of the volume.

The evening was a testament to the collaborative spirit that defines scholarship in charity law. The collection brings together contributors from across common law jurisdictions (and one civil law jurisdiction), each offering a unique perspective shaped by their own legal systems and experiences. This breadth positions the book as a timely resource for academics, practitioners and regulators working to navigate the evolving interface between private benefit, public purpose and regulatory strategy.
