Service Awards
Nominations for 2025-26 Service Awards will open in semester 2, 2026.
This award recognises and celebrates students who have made a significant contribution to the Pro Bono Centre over the last calendar/financial year. Service Awards for the last calendar/financial year are presented in late October. For more information on eligibility, see below.
Unlike in the past, students will now need to nominate themselves for Service Awards through an online form.
To be eligible for a Service Award in a given year, you must have completed at least 60 hours of pro bono work through the Pro Bono Centre within a relevant period.
Notes
For the purposes of the Service Award, pro bono work means all student work performed through the Pro Bono Centre without financial gain, other than:
- Clinical Legal Education (which is performed for academic credit); and
- Work experience for profit-making law firms or statutory authorities (ie, which are not community legal centres).
A relevant period means any period of no more than 12 months in the last calendar year or the last financial year. For example, if you were applying for an award in 2026, your 60 hours must have been completed between July 2025 and November 2026.
