Ken has practiced in the area of insurance law for about 30 years.  Until recently, he was head of the insurance practice at the leading national firm, Minter Ellison.  His practice has included almost all areas of insurance, primarily coverage and defence work involving claims for most classes including Professional Indemnity, Public Liability, Directors and Officers, Marine, Aviation and Product Liability.  He has also drafted policy wordings for International insurers.  He has provided front end advice about insurance programs and contractual arrangements and how they ‘marry’ policy wordings.  He regularly presents at insurance industry events.  He was named as Queensland’s 2019 Insurance Lawyer of the year by Best Lawyers.  He has sat as a professional member of the Legal Practice Tribunal for 12 years.  He is presently transitioning to practice at the Bar.

The course focuses on the statutes and common law principles regulating insurance law. The aim of the course is to familiarise students with legislation such as the Insurance Contracts Act 1984 (Cth) and compulsory third party motor vehicle workers compensation legislation as well as the common law principles applicable to insurance contracts.
