Increase your law employment opportunities with social media

16 Sep 2016

On Thursday, 15 September 2016, legal industry expert Margaret Jolly and UQ’s Dr Mark Burdon presented on using social media to maximise law employment opportunities.

Margaret discussed how to maintain balance between your personal and professional social accounts, and identified what legal recruiters look for when examining a graduate’s online footprint.

Following Margaret’s talk, Dr Burdon demonstrated how recruiters use big data to make hiring decisions. He highlighted unexpected details that may affect your job search – such as the web browser you use to upload your job application, and how to market yourself when you’re increasingly unaware of what drives hiring decisions.

The TC Beirne School of Law regularly hosts employment events for law students. Visit our events page for upcoming sessions. Law students can also talk to the Student Employability Team (SET) about how to use social media to increase their employment opportunities.
