The facts on funding for domestic violence legal services in Australia

Professor Heather Douglas, with Kate Fitz-Gibbon from Monash University wrote an article published in The Conversation yesterday, FactCheck Q&A: what are the facts on funding for domestic violence legal services in Australia? The article fact checks a statement made on the ABC's Q&A program that community legal centres which provide support to victims of domestic violence have had their funding cut by $35 million.

Professor Douglas and Dr Fitz-Gibbon concluded that while the statement does not tell the full story, it is true that community legal centres have received substantial cuts in funding, and that much more needs to be done to improve access to justice for disadvantaged Australians.
