UNCITRAL's Global Standards for Rule-based Commerce in New Delhi

Dr Alan Davidson spoke as an invited panel member at Celebrating UNCITRAL’s 50 Years – Global Standards for Rule-based Commerce in New Delhi earlier this week. Dr Davidson discussed India’s adoption of the UN Convention on the Use of Electronic Communications in International Contracts.

The conference addressed the modernisation of international trade law, along with specific international trade law issues including arbitration, electronic commerce and cross-border insolvency. Also speaking were the Indian President, Chief Justices of India and Singapore, and the Secretary General of UNCITRAL. UNCITRAL is the United Nations’ core legal advisory body in international trade law. UQ has been involved in UNCITRAL working groups since 2011, and is actively associated with UNCCA (UNCITRAL Coordination Committee Australia).

This Friday, UQ is hosting the UQ Trade Law Forum - 50 Years of UNCITRAL. The one-day symposium will be held at the Supreme Court Library on the 2 December 2016. Presenters will include international and local speakers as well as members of UNCITRAL.
