The TC Beirne School of Law’s Professor Heather Douglas and Professor Kit Barker will be collaborating with researchers on projects that have been awarded more than $1M as part of the Australian Research Council’s (ARC) recent funding announcement.
Ms Nicole Watson (University of Sydney), Professor Douglas and Dr Asmi Wood (Australian National University) were awarded an ARC Discovery Indigenous grant worth $678,640 for the project, Bringing Indigenous Voices into Judicial Decision-Making.
The project will be administered via the University of Sydney, and will focus on incorporating Indigenous voices into judgments and celebrates Indigenous people's contributions to the development of Australian law.
Professor Barker is part of a team of 15 researchers working on the AUSTLII project Foundations of the Common Law Library, which was successful in the ARC Linkage Infrastructure, Equipment and Facilities (LIEF) 2018 round. The project was awarded $499,899 and will be administered via The University of New South Wales.
The AUSTLII project is Australia's most popular online free-access resource for Australian legal information, serving the needs of a multitude of users with over 700,000 hits daily.
