Law alumni lauded in Queen's birthday honours

Four law graduates were among the honourees on the 2018 Queen's Birthday Honours list. 

The annual list celebrates Australia’s finest philanthropists, leaders, activists, researchers and visionaries and their contributions to Australia.

The law alumni are: 

Member (AM) in the General Division of the Order of Australia

The Hon Justice Martin Daubney SC AM (Bachelor of Arts ’83, Bachelor of Laws ’86)
For significant service to the law, and to the judiciary, to education, and to the community.

His Honour Judge Stuart Durward SC AM (Bachelor of Laws ’76)
For significant service to the law and the judiciary, to the provision of legal services to the Australian Defence Force, to education, and to the community.

His Honour Judge Michael Shanahan AM (Bachelor of Commerce ’75, Bachelor of Laws ‘77)
For significant service to the judiciary and to the legal profession as a judge and as an advocate and mentor for juvenile and Indigenous justice issues.

Medal (OAM) in the General Division of the Order of Australia

Adjunct Professor Iyla Davies OAM (Master Laws ’91)
For service to education.
